- General Working conditions:

Contract Period

1 year (E-2 VISA holder can stay in Korea for a year. This is renewable)

Salary

2-2.5 million won per month (depending on your career and position)

Teaching hours

100~120hrs/month.

Overtime pay

15,000 - 25,000won /hour

Severance pay

Receive an additional one month salary for completion of the full contract term

- Curriculum

Your school will provide you with textbooks appropriate to the student's age and English level. Most textbooks cover conversation, grammar, reading comprehension, and pronunciation; using common everyday situations to present the material (i.e. at the Supermarket). Some schools follow a strict lesson plan for their program but most have a more flexible program, giving the teacher more freedom to present the material as they want. Generally though you will teach the material as it is presented in the teachers manual for that textbook.. A lot of the textbooks have flashcards and taps that go along with the books, as well as ideas for games and activities to help you out

- Working hours

Most schools require you to work 120hrs per month. Generally classes are 40 minutes to 50 minutes in length, although some have 80min classes.

Normal teaching schedule for students age

Kinder~ Elementary

9:30am~ 6pm   (6 hours during this period)

Elementary~ Middle school

2~ 9pm            (6 hours during this period)

Elementary~high school

4~ 11pm          (6 hours during this period)

Adults

6:30am~10am and 5~9pm (6 hours during this period)

- Duties

Aside from teaching, you will be expected to prepare materials and lesson plans for your classes. As well as write monthly evaluations on your student's English abilities. You may also be required to help prepare for special activities such as Christmas or Halloween. Also many schools have weekly meetings which you will have to attend to discuss your classes, curriculum, special events or anything else involving ESL Teachers

- Airfare

Initially, a one way ticket will be provided to teachers from an international airport of their choice to Korea.
Upon completion of a one year contract, a teacher will get a return ticket from Koreato the original point of departure.

- 10~20 days paid vacation will be provided by the school.
  How much you get and at what time are depending on the school.
  Usually, these vacations are not given all at once.

- Housing

The institute will provide a free single studio apartment with basic household furnishings. (bed, kitchen, cooking utensils, washing machine, TV and a small refrigerator. Etc.) The employer will pay the rent or provide a housing allowance. However, you are responsible for the monthly utilities such as phone, gas and heating. Usually, the studio is within 10 to 30 minutes walking distance from your school.
